D’oh! We’re Still Under Construction
Welcome! Pleco Press is a new publisher of books about aquariums, tropical fish, and the fishkeeping hobby. Our books are accurate, up-to-date, in-depth, and written by experts in a friendly (and often humorous) manner. Fishkeeping is fun and our books are fun, too.
Please excuse the water on the floor (and navigation buttons that go nowhere) while we construct our company and Web site. We know that this placeholder page is uglier than a dead pleco, but we’ll fix that after we send our first titles to the printing press.

Just for Fun
“Pleco” (pleck-oh) is the short name used by hobbyists to refer to a popular, but hard to pronounce, freshwater, algae-eating fish—the plecostomus (pleh-COST-oh-muss). The name has a good ring to it, so we named our company after the fish. Here are a couple of pleco jokes you may enjoy:
Q: What do you call a $100 plecostomus?
A: A plecostoomuch.
Q: What’s the difference between a plecostomus and a terrorist?
A: One’s a scum-sucking bottom-dweller. The other is a fish.
